Visit Kenya now!
Kenya may not be the first destination that comes to mind when thinking of a relaxing vacation, however, the country is home to over 530km of powdery-white sands and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean that we all know and love. In addition to this, Kenya is also known for its Safaris through the Serengeti, famous Maasai warriors, the Great Rift Valley, and proximity to Mount Kilimanjaro that can be seen easily from Ambroseli’s National Park.
Situated in East Africa with Somalia and Ethiopia to its north and Tanzania to its south, Kenya was once strong trading grounds for both European and Arabic colonizers, because of this, both cultures have influenced the language and religion of this region greatly. Swahili, being the most commonly spoken, is a Bantu language heavily influenced by Arab settlers over the centuries. English, was adopted during the rule of the British Empire; and is still in use in schools, the media, and government. Regardless of these facts, there are still around 68 indigenous languages spoken in addition.
It is stated that bones of early humans found in the Turkana Basin have caused scientists to hypothesize about Kenya’s possible position as the birthplace of humanity. If you are history/archaeology buff, this is definitely the place for you! All this and the cost of living being 44% lower than the US, makes us want to pack our bags already!
