Visit Puerto Rico now!

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island, officially called the Commonwealth of this city, and a territory of the U.S. The island is situated in the northeastern Caribbean sea, which, allows for it’s mountainous and tropical landscapes. Just far enough to feel as if you’re heading outside of the U.S. mainland, without the need for your passport (if you are a U.S. citizen)!

The official languages spoken here are Spanish and English, so you may not even feel as though you’ve left home (depending on if and where you live in the U.S.). San Juan, as the capital and largest city in Puerto Rico; is known for its lively strip and beach bars, while Old San Juan features an array of colorful buildings dating back to the Spanish colonial era. The history of the islands begin around the 3rd millennia BCE, when the Ortoiroid peoples migrated to the Caribbean islands from the U.S. mainlands. Since then, other tribes like the Arawak and Tainos had made these lands their home, and eventually the Spanish conquerors. Upon arrival of the Spaniards, the native population dwindled, and with the importation of slaves, the genetic makeup of modern-day Boricuas was born. The islands became U.S. territory after the Spanish-American war of the 19th century.

This city is made up of 143 islands, however, you will likely spend most of your time on the main island of San Juan; unless you decide to venture the islands. Regardless what you decide, there is much to see and learn in this attainable paradise!
